LIST = An independent group of: personal data, newsletter archives, senders, statistics, automatic email messages, pending lists, subscribers lists, group lists, unsubscriber lists, settings.
NEWSLETTER = A single e-mail message.
OPTIN = It refers to all subscribed users, who have opted in. They appear as "enabled" in their user's form. Their status can be manually changed.
OPTOUT = It refers to all unsubscribed users, who opted out. They appear as "disabled" in their user's form.
PENDING = It refers to all pending users. These are users who have requested to receive newsletters from you (from one or more lists), have received a confirmation request message, but have not yet confirmed their subscription by clicking on the link in the message. This message is sent as MailUp uses a double opt-in subscription method, which is required by consumer privacy regulations in most countries.
GROUPS = A subset of a list. Any user can belong to different groups at the same time (similar to "Categories" in MS Outlook). A group can be created or deleted at any time. A group can also be deleted by removing the list that it belongs to. During an import, you can import contacts in one or more groups. If a contact already belonged to other groups, he will be added to the new groups on top of the existing ones unless the "REPLACE GROUP" feature is used.
FILTERS = You can use any of the custom data fields that are being used within a list to obtain a more targeted set of contacts. Groups and filters can be used together to obtain targeted sets of subscribers. You can then move a list of users generated from a combination of filters in a new group.

Each LIST is completely independent. It includes subscribers, unsubscribed users, groups, settings, messages, statistics, etc.
